Foundation Skills

Build a foundation for your future in work and study

Our friendly staff will work with you and create an individually-tailored program to work towards your employment or further study goals.

Our Foundation Studies department covers a wide range of English language literacy and numeracy courses, including Adult Literacy and Numeracy, Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Work Education courses.

Our Adult Literacy and Numeracy courses will help you brush up on the basics, improve your skills and gain confidence in the workforce and wider community. Patient, friendly teachers will work with you to find the way that you learn best. If you’re looking for a senior secondary qualification, Melbourne Polytechnic’s VCAL programs offer an alternative to Years 11 and 12, mixing hands-on vocational education training pathways and workplace skills with personal development and literacy and numeracy skills.

Our highly regarded Work Education programs offer training in work and life skills to people with a disability, people with autism or people who need support with learning. In 2018, Melbourne Polytechnic won ‘Inclusive Training Provider‘ in the Department of Education’s Victorian Training Awards (VTA). We are very experienced at teaching students who live with a disability so you can be confident that you will have the support you need.
