Early years education

If you enjoy working with children, and want a qualification where you can work in both primary schools and kindergartens, and you would like to be an early year’s specialist then early education is the right course.

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
This course is designed to develop your understanding of issues relevant to the children’s services sector and to enhance your practical skills needed to deliver high quality care and education to young children. You will learn first aid, how to care for babies and toddlers and how to support holistic development of children.

Certificate III in Education Support
This course provides you with comprehensive and high quality training if you would like to work with students with special needs. It is specifically designed for people who would like to work in schools assisting the teacher by providing extra literacy and numeracy support to students in the classroom.

Certificate III in General Education for Adults (CGEA) - Bridging and Preparatory Studies
CGEA 3 is designed for a range of students whose life experiences have limited their access to education, training and employment. The program focuses on the development of literacy skills to read, interpret, evaluate and create a range of texts and to apply knowledge of everyday and formal numeracy in a range of contexts. Outcomes also focus on the skills and knowledge to conduct a project and to investigate pathways and develop, implement and review a learning plan.

Melbourne Polytechnic's Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) English as an Additional Language (EAL) Young Adult Migrant Education Courses (YAMEC) offers the perfect program for you if you’re new to Australia, aged between 15 and 26, from a non-English speaking background, and have had disrupted, or incomplete education but can write and speak English.
