Agriculture and Land Management

Some of the greatest challenges facing our world today concern the natural world and our limited natural resources. A career in agriculture could be for you if climate change, farming, agronomy and viticulture interest you.

Melbourne Polytechnic's Agriculture courses focus on a balance of the academic, practical and industry elements. We work with primary industry specialists to explore the latest in farming technology, such as ultrasound scanning of beef cattle, fertiliser field trials and cell grazing.

Career paths are emerging in soil science, sustainability, land management and rural business advice, to compliment traditional cattle and sheep farming.

Melbourne Polytechnic has commercial standard properties at Eden Park and Yan Yean, with facilities including a fully functional 600-ha broad acre operation. We offer many pathways for students to further their studies. Opportunities for complementary education in our Agriculture and Animal Studies Department, exist where students can complete the same core subjects and electives in different industries.
