Improving and building on your literacy and numeracy skills can greatly improve quality of life and career opportunities. We can help you get on track with your future career goals.

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Adult and Literacy and Numeracy courses were designed for adults who left school early but now want to improve their basic reading, writing and numeracy skills. Adults of all ages and backgrounds take these courses and are surprised at how quickly they improve their English language skills.

This training can make your life a lot easier at work or daily tasks such as banking, visiting the doctor or reading the newspaper. You’ll find Melbourne Polytechnic a particularly welcoming environment so you’ll settle in quickly. Improving your literacy will benefit your confidence, access to community services, opportunities for workplace promotion and further study.

The department offers vocational support and endeavours to cater to individual needs by entering into partnerships with other mainstream departments. Examples of this are ESL programs with employment focuses such as aged care, childcare, information technology, retail and hospitality.
