Disconnect-Reconnect Restricted Electrical Workers Licence Class 2

Melbourne Polytechnic's Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence entitles you to carry out low voltage electrical installation work relating to equipment that is connected to a fixed electrical installation, associated with your primary trade, vocation or calling (occupation) and would otherwise require the services of a registered electrical contractor or a licensed electrician.

If you are planning to apply for a Restricted Electrical Worker’s Licence, you must be competent in a relevant field where the disconnection and reconnection work to be carried out is a significant function of your job. This licence is purely for the disconnection/reconnection of like for like equipment, for the purposes of repair, replacement and maintenance.

The unit UEENEEP101A Apply Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Codes and Practices in the Workplace will be covered during the course.

Course Outcomes

  • This course will give the participants the skills and knowledge required in electrical safety and basic electrical principles to enable them to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for their RESTRICTED ELECTRICAL WORKER’S LICENCE Class 2. The licence will entitle the holder to carry out electrical installation work involving disconnection and reconnection of equipment as indicated on the licence.
  • A statement of attainment and Statement of Independence will only be awarded when a successful pass has been achieved.

Assessment Methods

A RESTRICTED ELECTRICAL WORKERS LICENCE CLASS 2 will not be automatically issued at the completion of the course work. Participants must successfully pass an assessment in each category they seek a licence. A statement of attainment and Statement of Independence will only be awarded when a successful pass has been achieved. This statement can then be presented to ESV for a licence application. Prerequisites

Candidates who are considering obtaining this licence are recommended to contact Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) on 1800 815 721, prior to enrolling into our course. ESV will issue candidate with a letter of authorisation for course attendance only. This letter needs to be provided to us prior to undertaking the assessment. If you don’t obtain this letter, Melbourne Polytechnic cannot confirm that you will be eligible for the licence. ESV makes the final decisions.
