STRENUA WINE LABEL TAKES OFF FROM THE HILLS OF CHUM CREEK 

In 2011, the owners of the Chum Creek property purchased the place complete with twenty-two year old vines – but didn’t have the resources or desire to manage the vines.

Enter Dale Wheeler and his friend Rhen, both former Melbourne Polytechnic Viticulture students, who jumped at the chance, recognising a unique opportunity to start their own label using their own fruit, unlike so many labels who have to purchase fruit.

The results speak for themselves; the small, single-barrel releases of Rosé and Chardonnay have most sold out, with small volumes of Syrah not far behind.

Melbourne Polytechnic's Ararat Training Centre is located in one of Victoria’s most renowned wine growing districts. Since commencing training and research at Aradale in 2002, Melbourne Polytechnic has established a 30 hectare vineyard, a 250 tonne winery and extensive training facilities.
