Occupational Preparatory Course
Selection for the Victoria Police Academy is a rigorous process, and undertaking Melbourne Polytechnic's Occupational Preparatory Course will maximise your chances of selection, help you understand what to expect, and show you what life as a police officer is like. Topics include English, mathematics skills and logical reasoning needed for the Victoria Police entrance exam.

Basic Carpentry
Melbourne Polytechnic's practical short course in Basic Carpentry, gives participants the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and practical experience in basic carpentry combined with related Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.

Construction Induction Card (White Card formerly Red Card Training)
Melbourne Polytechnic's Construction Induction Card (White Card formerly Red Card Training) short course will provide you with the Construction Induction Card, which is now known as the nationally recognised White Card. Learn skills such as how to identify Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and construction hazards.

Scaffolding Licence - Basic Level
Melbourne Polytechnic's Scaffolding Licence - Basic Level short course provides participants with the required skills to erect, alter and dismantle all types of modular scaffolding systems to provide work platforms for construction purposes, including edge protection, access ways and falsework. On successful completion, participants can apply to WorkSafe for a Basic Scaffolding Licence.

Safe Working at Heights
This Melbourne Polytechnic short course will teach you how to work at height safely, adhering to correct procedure and using the right equipment to significantly reduce risk.

Scaffolding Licence - Intermediate Level
Melbourne Polytechnic's Scaffolding Licence - Intermediate Level short course provides participants with the required skills to erect, alter and dismantle all types of modular scaffolding systems to provide work platforms for construction purposes, including edge protection, access ways and falsework. On successful completion, participants can apply to WorkSafe for an Intermediate Scaffolding Licence.

Manual Handling
Pick it up and put it down sounds simple but Work Health and Safety (WHS) statistics show that many workers don't know the correct methods for handling heavy objects - or even lighter items that require repetitive or awkward handling. Melbourne Polytechnic's Manual Handling short course teaches the correct methods for the manual handling of any object.

Elevated Work Platforms
The Melbourne Polytechnic Elevated Work Platforms program enables participants to develop basic knowledge, understanding and use of an elevated work platform (EWP) and the role of the EWP within the building construction industry.

Working in a Confined Space
Melbourne Polytechnic's Working in a Confined Space short course will teach you how to work in confined spaces using correct procedures and equipment. The course provides students with the necessary mix of theory and practical skills to improve workplace safety and is nationally accredited and run by industry experienced instructors.
