LOCAL REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal prerequisites for this course.
Skills Required:
Physical skills – Floristry is hands on and requires a degree of fine motor skills, strength and mobility. Students will be required to lift buckets, unpack stock, undertake house keeping duties, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Support and reasonable adjustments are available for students through the Student Equity and Access Service.
Technological skills – Students will require basic computer skills to access learner resources and submit assessments via Moodle and other online platforms. Learning support is available for students through Learning Skills.
Communication skills - Students will require a level of numeracy and literacy skills which will enable them to participate in written activities and assessments. Students will be required to undertake various teamwork activities and undertake work placement within a floristry business. Numeracy and literacy support are available through Learning Skills. Further support and reasonable adjustments are available through the Student Equity and Access Service.
Work placement requirements - Students are required to complete 50 hours of work placement in a floristry related business.
