Associate Professor Colleen Morris is an experienced educator and artist. Her art works include installation, sound and mixed media, words and painting; her primary research areas of interest are related to water, ecology and environment.
Colleen is engaged in educational research – participating in conferences e.g.: AAH Annual Conference, Intersections 2009, Manchester UK. (Poster Session), International Learning, Teaching & Research Conference CUMULUS INC 38Degrees. Melbourne 2009 – Paper Presentation. Chaired and Presented Paper ‘Creative Arts in the Dual Sector’ Tertiary Congress, May 2012, Sydney.
Since 2009 Colleen has engaged in an ongoing collaborative research project with partners from MIRIAD Manchester Metropolitan University – Visual Discourse: mapping conversation &, imagery related to environment, water and people across two hemispheres, a meeting between the physical and the virtual. She has designed,curated and participated in selected group exhibitions, including visual arts events for several Melbourne Fringe Festivals and most of the biennial Palimpsests at Mildura since 1998.
Her work is represented in Public collections of: ARTBANK Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, Victoria Council for the Arts, Mildura Regional Arts Centre.
Colleen has previously been an external examiner for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Fine Art at RMIT and invited to be one of the external examiners at the Centre for Creative Research, University of Western Sydney, in the Doctorate of Creative Arts (DCA) program – a thesis entitled Coming to Ground which is linked with visual arts, ecology and identity. She was external examiner in 2012 for a Masters of Design candidate, Monash University.
