Andy White is a Belfast born, Melbourne based songwriting lecturer in the Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production, He has toured the world since 1986 and supported acts such as Billy Bragg and Van Morrison. He has written with songwriting legends such as Peter Gabriel and both Neil and Tim Finn, and had major recording deals with Decca, Warners and Parlaphone.
In 1993 he was Hot press Irish Songwriter of the Year and is included in the Irish HQ Music Hall of Fame.
In 2000 his song “Coz I’m free” was played at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympic games. He is also a published poet and has read at Georgia State University, USA, Bremen University, Germany and Queens University, Belfast.
He is a regular tutor at the annual Bath Spa University UK Songwriters Festival. This is the only University in the UK with a songwriting MA. He has also run Songwriting seminar at Swallow Hill Arts Center in Denver, Colorado and is a songwriting tutor at the WOMAD Summer School.
Andy has a Masters in English Literature from Cambridge University.
