Centre of Applied Innovation hosts Cybersecurity experts

10 Jul 2017

The Centre of Applied Innovation, in partnership with George Mason University, has held its first Cybersecurity Workshop.

Dr Mark Troutman, Director, Center for Infrastructure Protection/Homeland Security, George Mason University, Mr Scott Ainslie, Regional Director, Financial Services Information and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC) for Australia & New Zealand, and Dr David Martin, Executive Director of Innovation and Transformation at Melbourne Polytechnic, presented the two day program, with invaluable input provided by the attendees, including high profile members of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), DXC Technology, and the Australian federal government.

This is the first pillar in the establishment of Melbourne Polytechnic's program offerings in the Cybersecurity sector.

The agenda included an overview of global cybersecurity trends and numerous case studies, as well as a clear path to the practical implementation of enhanced cybersecurity in enterprise and government and the establishment of a network of cybersecurity information sharing. Participants received a comprehensive review of current relevant literature and effective cybersecurity policies, tactics and approaches.

There was a particular focus on engineering Trusted Cities™ - especially on how to create a space in Melbourne that cultivates collaboration, integrated business, and knowledge sharing. A critical factor in this is to ensure the inclusion of the analogue components that exist within increasingly digital networks.

The next Cybersecurity workshop will be towards the end of 2017.
