About the Role

Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking to appoint a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position  of Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor, Built Environment.

You will be a hardworking and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and  with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel in the subject area.

Your primary objectives will be:

  • Manage all aspects of the implementation and delivery of the Bachelor of the Built Environment; teach in the program; and assure the quality of the program
  • Provide a significant degree of leadership in scholarly, applied research and professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and community
  • Build relationships with industry and community organisations to promote and develop sustainable pathways for the students into further education or the workforce.

About You:

The successful applicant will possess the following:
 
Key Competencies:

  • Significant tertiary teaching experience and skills with a passion for undergraduate teaching, including experience in course leadership and coordination and the development of learning resources for innovative flexible learning 

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, delivery and evaluation in e-learning environments

  • An established track record of scholarly performance including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations and the capacity to initiate scholarly activity and/or applied research programs, lead research teams and to attract external research funding or successful grant applications.

Qualification, Licenses and Experience

The Senior Lecturer will have:

A Doctoral level qualification in architecture or related area. Candidates with demonstrated evidence of significant expertise in architectural practice, substantial tertiary teaching experience and demonstrated research and/or scholarly activity may be considered. Registration with an architect’s registration board or equivalent will be an advantage.

The Associate Professor will have:

A Doctoral level qualification in architecture or related area. Candidates with demonstrated evidence of over five years professional practice which demonstrates recognised professional standing in the field, over five years teaching experience in higher education and demonstrated internationally recognized research and/or scholarly activity may be considered. Registration with an architect’s registration board or equivalent will be an advantage.

Salary

Lecturer C with a salary range of $99,740 - $115,005 per annum.

Associate professor D with a salary range of $120,095 - $132,308 per annum. Commencing salary will be negotiated according to qualifications and experience.

Superannuation is additional and Melbourne Polytechnic is able to contribute to UniSuper.

Note that service with publicly funded Australian Universities is recognised for long service and sick leave purposes.

Ongoing, Full- Time 38 hours per week
