About the Role

We are very excited to announce that Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking to appoint an experienced, innovative and qualified individual to fill the position of Science Communicator.

Your primary objective will be to:

  • Developing and facilitating programs within the Banyule Nillumbik and Whittlesea Tech Schools.  The key outcomes of your work will include developing resources and communications to promote STEM concepts, science communication and science literacy for the young people of Northern Melbourne.  You will work within a team to design and deliver events and programs within the Tech School. You will also engage stakeholders and the public in both Tech Schools through innovative use of online channels, exhibition spaces and events.  You will be a champion for innovation and STEM learning experiences building upon on ideas and networks to ensure high quality engagements.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant experience and relevant Degree in science communication, STEM education or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including young people. Demonstrated ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders with diplomacy.
  • Ability to work within a team environment under pressure in an extremely busy environment, prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
  • Experience with project management including the development of resources and programs.


The salary will be in the range of $61,883 - $66,573 (PACCT 5.1 – 5.3) per annum plus employer superannuation contributions.
