About the Role

We are very excited to announce that Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking to appoint experienced, innovative and qualified individuals to fill 2 executive positions of Business Strategist to work within our newly formed Enterprise Development and Strategy Team.

Your primary objectives will be:

  • The Business Strategist works directly with the Business Analyst who is part of the same team. The position purpose is to extrapolate on the data analytics of the unit to develop inward and outward facing organisational, faculty and department strategies as well as advise the Executive team and Faculty Heads on opportunities for improvement and articulation of risk.

  • The Business Strategist also establishes and develops strategic relationships to support the growth of Melbourne Polytechnic.

About You

The successful applicant will possess the following:

Key Technical Competencies


  • High level research and analytical skills and demonstrated ability in assessing opportunities, preparing reports and providing recommendations to senior management.

  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication and negotiation skills appropriate to dealing with diverse stakeholders at the highest levels of public and private sector organisations.

  • Exceptional creative and courageous problem solving capability with a demonstrated ability to lead strategic change and organisational enhancement at the Executive level through validated data modelling end to end implementation planning.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement.


  • It would be advantageous for an applicant to have a good working knowledge of the VET and Higher Education environment and the requirements of the VRQA, TEQSA and ASQA.

Qualifications, Licenses and Experience

  • A relevant degree or post-graduate qualification with a quantitative component together with at least 5 years’ experience working in complex strategic development projects and 2 years’ experience in statistical data collections in a large multi-stakeholder significant organization. Experience with government will be an advantage.

The remuneration package will be $150,000 per annum inclusive of employer superannuation contribution.


2 x Fixed Term Executive Contracts

Full-Time, 38 hours per week
