The performing arts department offer courses designed to prepare you for live performance and to help build your career in the music industry. We offer one on one teaching, collaborative projects and introductions to industry networks.

We recognise that practical experience is the most important facet of the performing arts industry. We provide you with opportunities for live performance and a range of production facilities. You and your colleagues will work collaboratively in areas such as:

You will have the opportunity to collaborate on many projects including Melbourne Polytechnic’s annual Yarra Edge Music Festival.

Expert teachers and state of the art technology

Melbourne Polytechnic Performing Arts department delivers training at FairfieldCollingwood and Prahran campuses.  We offer industry-standard recording studios, high definition television and commercial video editing facilities to a broad range of industry clients.

Music students have access to recording studios and rehearsal spaces decked out with modern equipment. We have computer laboratories with the latest software and hardware, and we offer fully equipped performance theatres.

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate IV in Screen and Media is at the cutting edge of broadcast education in Australia. You will have access to a $2.1 million world class television studio. The studio provides the opportunity for direct experience in industry standard computer-based workflows.

You will be taught by industry professionals in the areas of music, performance, music business management, television and video production, and sound production. The Performing Arts department is located at Fairfield and Prahran campuses and Television Production is offered at our Collingwood Campus.

Associate Degree of Music
Melbourne Polytechnic's Associate Degree of Music incorporates all first and second year subjects of the Bachelor of Music program. Associate Degree of Songwriting and Music Production

Bachelor of Music
