Gain the knowledge and skills required by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to apply for your plumbing licenses for water, drainage, sanitary, roofing and gas fitting. You will learn how to manage risk, estimate and cost work as well as how to design and size:
- sanitary drainage systems

- heated and cold water services and systems

This course has strong links with both the plumbing industry and with industry authorities through its connections with the Master Plumbers Association and the VBA.
With the broad range of skills you will have after completing this course, you could gain employment as a licensed plumber, sub-contractor or contractor, and work on a range of building sites, both domestic and commercial.

Australian apprentices undertaking this course may be eligible for the Commonwealth Government’s Trade Support Loan (TSL) program.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts.

The student tuition fees as published are correct at time of publication and subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. All enrolments excluding RPL/RCC and Higher Education incur an annual Amenities fee with a maximum cap of $250
Assessment MethodsTo complete a competency, you will be required to successfully complete an assessment for that competency. Please note - the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) has its own licence assessment requirements that sit outside this course
MaterialsWe will supply all training materials and the relevant Australian standards. You will need to supply your own basic writing materials, including notebook and pens
Entrance RequirementsThere are no formal entry requirements, but to be eligible for a VBA license, you must have completed Certificate III in Plumbing or be a registered plumber to undertake the Certificate IV subjects
Pathways to further studyAfter successfully completing this course you may be eligible to undertake the VBA license examination. Ask us about pathways to further vocational training or higher education from this qualification.
Career PathwaysAfter graduating from this course, your expanded skill set will make you an asset to any worksite in need of an experienced plumber. You will be able to work as a licensed plumber with an employer, or as a sub-contractor or contractor, or become a small business operator after being granted your VBA license.
