This course ensures you have the highest level of skills and knowledge to be an asset to your workplace. On successful completion of this course you will be qualified to become a Certified Welder or a welding supervisor.
Each unit is assessed internally. However, units that provide a WA qualification are assessed by the WA organisation which has strong links with Melbourne Polytechnic.

Entrance RequirementsThere are no formal entry requirements for this course. You can undertake this course whether or not you have experience in fabrication. If you have completed the relevant Certificate III qualification, you may be able to get credit for units you have already done. Talk to our course advisors for more detail.
Pathways to further studyIf you don’t have prior experience, you might have to complete some foundation units before starting the more advanced units of this course – but we’ll help you get there.
Career PathwaysGraduates of this course can enter into employment as supervisors, leading hands and estimators, tradesperson boilermakers or first class welders in the metals and engineering industry Australia-wide.

You can seek Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where your work experience or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. RPL is individually assessed based on evidence submitted by the student to the teaching department. Applications for RPL will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic trainers, academics and where appropriate, industry experts.
Students may be eligible for Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.
This qualification aligns with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 4.
