Certificate II in General Education for Adults is for students who have had limited access to education, training and employment. The program develops literacy skills to read, interpret, evaluate and create a range of texts. It also develops numeracy skills for everyday uses. You will learn how to do a project and to investigate pathways and develop, implement and review a learning plan.

Melbourne Polytechnic is an approved Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) provider. This course is an Austudy/Abstudy and Centrelink/Department of Human Services approved course for job seekers.
You will gain better literacy, language and numeracy skills required for general employment outcomes. This course is a pathway to higher learning such as Bridging Science, vocational education and training (VET) or tertiary studies.
Assessment is continuous and ongoing. It focuses on the process of learning as well as the competencies stated in the modules.

MaterialsStudents will need to buy their own workbooks and stationary. Melbourne Polytechnic recommends they buy a calculator and a dictionary. The Institute will supply photocopied worksheets. Students will also have access to a wide range of services and facilities at the school such as vocational counselling, library facilities and language labs.
Entrance RequirementsThere are no limitations to entry based on age or educational background. You will be interviewed before placement in the program. Contact the Foundation Studies department to arrange an interview time and date.
