Wall & Ceiling Lining and Painting & Decorating

If you have an eye for detail and enjoy working with your hands, a career in plastering or painting and decorating could be just right for you.

The Certificate II in Building and Construction is a very hands-on program that will help you to develop the basic skills you need to get started on a plastering or painting and decorating career. You will learn how to:

  • Line, stop, and sand walls and ceilings (including archways)
  • Install and finish plasterboard to walls and ceilings
  • Perform basic casting
  • Prime and finish projects with a rolled, brushed, or sprayed paint finish
  • Install wallpaper
  • Stain timber
  • Clear finishing timber
  • Mix basic paint colours
  • Install suspended ceilings

You will back up these skills by building an understanding of the safe use of tools and equipment, First Aid. You will also have the opportunity to gain your Construction Induction Card (CIC) or White Card.

Learn from industry professionals

Our friendly and approachable plastering and painting teachers are industry professionals with decades of experience. They maintain strong industry ties with peak bodies and on-the-ground employers so you can be sure you are getting the most current and in-depth training.

Prepare for an apprenticeship

The dual qualification is designed to give you confidence and work readiness so that any employer would be happy to take you on as an apprentice.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible for some credit transfers into the Apprenticeship streams of either the Certificate III in Painting & Decorating (CPC30611) or Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining (CPC31211).
