Our teaching staff are extensively qualified and industry-experienced. Our course is designed to provide you with the skills you’ll need in the industry, with projects that reflect the kind of work you could end up doing.
Career pathways for painters and decorators include a painting and decorating apprentice or a colour consultant.
Assessment consists of progressive testing and internal assessment.
This course is now offered as a dual enrolment with the Certificate II in Building & Construction (Wall & Ceiling Lining)
Recognition of Prior Learning
You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts.

The student tuition fees as published are correct at time of publication and subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. All enrolments excluding RPL/RCC and Higher Education incur an annual Amenities fee with a maximum cap of $250
Assessment MethodsStudent assessment will combine progressive testing and internal assessment.
MaterialsAll theoretical learning materials are supplied as part of the enrolment fees. Some tools for practical work are required to be supplied by the student. A list of tools is available from the Painting and Decorating division.
Entrance RequirementsThere are no formal entrance requirements for this course
Pathways to further studyOn successful completion of this course, participants may proceed with Certificate III in Painting and Decorating apprenticeship.
Career PathwaysGraduates of this course may gain employment in the painting and decorating area of the building industry as an apprentice in an Australian Apprenticeship.
