Our multidisciplinary approach provides the opportunity to commence an Engineering program learning all essential basics before you specialise in one of three important streams - 1. 1. Civil/Structural Engineering

Enhance your knowledge and gain practical and technical skills to work with Civil Engineers in the design and construction of infrastructure projects.

This stream of the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology allows you to work alongside Civil/Structural Engineers who are involved in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, frameworks, airports, railways, roads, dams and reticulation systems.

2. Mechanical Building Services (MEP)

Building Services Engineering is concerned with aspects of the built environment, involving air conditioning and mechanical ventilation, electrical light and power, fire services, Fire Safety Engineering, water and waste services, data and communications, security and access control, vertical transportation, acoustics in buildings and energy management.

3. Mechanical Manufacturing

Take your workshop engineering skills further and prepare for increased responsibility and greater earning potential.

This stream of the qualification allows you to assist senior designers, production supervisors and professional engineers who are involved with the design, development, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of machines, mechanical and mechatronic systems, automated systems and robotic devices, materials and materials handling systems, manufacturing equipment and process plant.

With comprehensive practical content, delivered by teachers with industry experience, the program has obtained Provisional Accreditation by Engineers Australia.

Focusing on specialised topics such as 2D/3D Drafting, Design and Construction principles, Surveying, Robotics and Energy Management, the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology provides great opportunities to enter the workforce or gain pathways into Higher Education.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts.

  • successfully completion of Year 12 VCE studies, or equivalent, including units in English and Mathematics
  • mature age students with relevant experience may also apply
  • applicants without the necessary study prerequisite may be required to undertake additional bridging units of study in mathematics and communication
