Utilize your creative flair with a career in painting and decorating

Melbourne Polytechnic’s courses help you build the skills for a flexible career that can take you anywhere.

Qualified painters play an essential role in the construction and manufacturing industry, adding the final decorative touches and providing a protective layer on buildings and other structures.

While studying at Melbourne Polytechnic, you’ll learn a wide range of skills including preparing surfaces, selecting, and matching colours, creating textured finishes, wallpapering and adding decorative finishes using stencils, graining, marbling, and more. You’ll be instructed by practicing painters in our purpose-built building barn, where you can enjoy a hands-on, practical learning approach.

Melbourne Polytechnic offers pre-apprenticeship courses as well as courses you can study while undertaking an apprenticeship.
