They include certificate courses in both:

  • pre-apprenticeship

The carpentry pre-apprenticeship is an intensive training program in Melbourne Polytechnic's purpose-built building barn at Heidelberg.

Successful completion of this course leads into an apprenticeship in:

  • carpentry
  • framework
  • formwork
  • finishing

Trainees undertaking an apprenticeship program are employed by carpenters and will train:

  • on-site with their employer
  • off-site at Melbourne Polytechnic

Skills and knowledge you will gain:

  • performing calculations and measurements

Courses
Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry)
Start building your future in carpentry, joinery, stairbuilding and shopfitting to become the apprentice that every site manager wants. The 22145VIC Certificate II in Carpentry is combined with the 22145VIC Certificate II in Joinery/Shopfitting/Stairbuilding (Pre-apprenticehip) providing the best possible chance to secure a position leading you into working on a diverse range of building projects.

Certificate II in Joinery Shopfitting Stairbuilding (Pre-apprenticeship)
Climb to the top as a qualified joiner, shopfitter and stairbuilder with Melbourne Polytechnic's Certificate II in Joinery/Shopfitting/Stairbuilding (Pre-apprenticeship). Work on local or major infrastructure projects with your 'hands-on' approach and joinery qualification and see a solid result to your work. This course is only available as part of a combined qualification with the MSF20313 Certificate II in Furniture Making or the 22216VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction (Carpentry).

Certificate III in Carpentry
Construct a career in carpentry and plan a path towards your own business in the trade with Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate III in Carpentry. Our carpentry teachers will hone your skills in all aspects of construction and essential knowledge of building regulations, with carpentry as the prime focus.
