The cultivation and construction of jewellery design encompasses art, craft and business skills. If you work well with your hands and have an eye for design, then our courses will benefit you.
Melbourne Polytechnic’s range of jewellery courses will teach you the fundamentals of design, manufacturing processes and techniques. We emphasise engineering skills to ensure you will be well-placed to enter this field. The courses focus on a hand-working skill base, this offers a generous amount of creative control so you can become a jeweller or production designer.
We’ll teach you metal working skills, silver smithing, CAD design, gem setting and enamelling techniques. Our Advanced Diploma teaches you advanced techniques, and also includes information on setting up your own small business.
You will learn about:
- Creating fine jewellery
- Hand-working metal
- Using small tools
- Producing a professional jewellery or design portfolio
Our studios are well equipped with modern tools and our courses are renowned for excellence within the industry. Our professional Jewellery Centre is a hub for artisans where recognised experts pass on their knowledge in the traditions of jewellery and gold smithing. We offer short, hands-on courses for beginner and intermediate students through to apprentice training in jewellery manufacturing.
