Michael Rochford

Michael Rochford is a graduate of Melbourne University, with a double major in music education.

He has been teaching music for over 20 years and is endorsed by Pearl drums.

As a drummer Michael has performed in orchestras, rock & funk bands, small and large jazz groups, as well as theatre and cabaret. He has appeared on all major television stations in Melbourne, on radio stations in a number of cities around the world, and has accompanied and toured with international and local acts such as:

  • Elvis to the Max (Acclaimed as world’s best Elvis impersonator)
  • The Drifters (Famous Motown group from the 1960s)
  • Don Burrows ( Australian ambassador of jazz)
  • Sheila Jordan ( American Jazz singer)
  • Australian Showband ( Australia's leading big band)
  • Tony Gould + Joe Chindamo
  • New Caledonia Jazz Festival
  • Performances at Australian Jazz Awards Ceremony
  • Grand Wazoo (soul band) + Kerberos (world fusion band).

In 2011 Michael was part of the band performing at the arrival ceremony for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and has recently played at the Melbourne International jazz festival, the Noosa Jazz festival, the Italian jazz festival and the Apollo Bay festival.
