I’ve been teaching English to international students for almost twenty years. I started teaching English in Spain in 1994 then, after a year in Spain, I continued to teach English in Melbourne and study Spanish at La Trobe University.
I started teaching here in 2008. As well as ELICOS, I have also worked in the China Program. I’ve been to China teaching our intensive short courses in Business English for the past three years.
I am currently doing a Masters in TESOL at Melbourne University. I have trained in IELTS examining; I have a Bachelor of Education, Cambridge RSA/CTEFLA and the Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
I love working at Melbourne Polytechic in the ELICOS program as it gives me an opportunity to meet people from all over the world. It has an interesting curriculum and we do a lot of excursions around Melbourne. I also love the people I work with-both students and staff!
In my free time, I like travelling with my family, cycling, reading, cooking and practising speaking Spanish when I get the chance. I also try to learn a little of the language that my students speak, which keeps me on my toes and helps me to remember how challenging learning a new language can be!
