Ann Manning

After Ann’s first degree in science she taught chemistry, science and mathematics for some years whilst becoming increasingly captivated by the wine industry.

She undertook a degree in Wine Science and made wine in the Macedon Ranges, before joining Melbourne Polytechnic.

Ann has now been with us for 10 years teaching a range of wine related subjects – initially in the VET sector and later in Higher Education when the degree in Viticulture and Winemaking was established.

She is interested in all aspects of the wine industry and is undertaking the London based Institute of Masters of Wine qualification. She is also a qualified Wine and Spirits Education Trust educator.

Since she has studied remotely she enjoys teaching online classes as well as those on campus.  She believes that she has the best job at Melbourne Polytechnic – choosing, tasting, teaching about wines from many of the world’s best wine regions from both a production and sensory viewpoint.
