Melbourne Polytechnic is currently seeking to recruit new casual IELTS speaking Examiners and is asking for expressions of interest to undertake training. All Casual IELTS Examiners must have successfully completed the IELTS Examiner Training to be considered for a position.
About the role:
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the English language proficiency of candidates who seek to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS Examiners carry out the IELTS Writing and/or Speaking assessments in accordance with IELTS and Melbourne Polytechnic policy and procedure.
IELTS Examiners are required to work a minimum of 12 IELTS test per year, which are conducted on Saturdays. Full details of the position for IELTS Examiners at Melbourne Polytechnic can be viewed in the attached Duty Statement.
Minimum professional requirements for IELTS Examiners include the following:
- An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
- A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.
- At least 3 years' full time (or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL teaching experience (minimum one year post-certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).

After obtaining the recruitment pack, you can apply to attend the IELTS Examiner Training by submitting a completed Examiner Application Form and copies of all requested documents as listed on the application form. Do not submit original documentation with your application. Original documents will need to be sighted by the Centre Administrator prior to your acceptance on to the training course and you will be required to present these in person.
Training dates for the IELTS Examiner Training (speaking module only) are on April 30 and May 1, 2015 (attendance on both days is required). A fee of $330 will be charged to take part in the training. Only applicants who successfully qualify to attend the training will be requested to pay this fee.
Applicants will also be required to attend a face to face interview in the week beginning April 13.
