About the IELTS Test

Melbourne Polytechnic offers the International English Language Test System (IELTS) at our Preston and Collingwood campuses.

IELTS is the world’s most popular high stakes English language test, accepted for study, work and migration.

IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge English Language Assessment.

No application forms or passport photographs are needed when booking your test online. You only need your passport and credit/debit card.

Steps to book your IELTS test:

1.     Confirm Test Type:

There are two versions of the IELTS test – an academic and a non-academic version. These are known as IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Before making your booking, please ensure that you are aware of which version you need.

2.     Book:

To book your test with the Melbourne Polytechnic IELTS Test Centre, you will need to use the new online booking system at home OR in person at our office with our self-service kiosks. You will need to have an active email account to use this service.

3.     Confirmation:

Our office will process and confirm your booking after you have made your payment. On the Thursday afternoon before to your test, you will receive an email with your confirmation letter. Please print this confirmation letter and bring it and your original passport on test day.

Your confirmation letter will list your speaking interview and arrival times for test day.

You must attend the test venue stated on your confirmation letter.
