Melbourne Polytechnic’s Forklift Licence short course covers the theory and practical operation of forklift trucks and provides the key information on forklift operating safety and regulations. Upon successful completion, you will be issued with a Licence to Perform High Risk Work card issued by WorkSafe Victoria (LF - Class) and a completed unit of competency TLILIC2001A Licence to operate a forklift truck.

Please note: Melbourne Polytechnic provides training and assessment only. An interim certificate will be issued after the course and is only valid for 60 days. The actual forklift licence will be issued by WorkSafe Victoria on application during this time. Please contact the Primary Industries department for the latest information.
Licence application fee: $60 per notice of assessment, payable to the Victorian WorkCover Authority or Australia Post.
You must be over 18 years old to be assessed. Proof of age (Photo ID) and proof of citizenship/residency will be required for the assessment and licence application forms.

Entrance RequirementsStudents must be over 18 years old to be assessed for a licence. Two passport photos will be required for the assessment and licence application forms. You will need to provide proof of citizenship/residency and proof of age (including Photo ID). There are no formal entrance requirements. However, applicants are required to have a basic knowledge of English.
Assessment MethodsVarious forms of assessment may be used including: practical skills test and theoretical examination.
MaterialsBasic safety equipment - suitable clothing and safety work boots/shoes. Please bring your own writing materials. Notes and course materials will be provided after enrolment. Pathways to further studyCertificate courses in transport and distribution. Completion of this unit of study will gain you credits towards attaining the Certificate III in Warehousing Operations.
