Prasanna Gunasinghe

Prasanna Gunasinghe is a highly qualified administrative professional with more than 20 years extensive experience. 

Prasanna has been supporting the students and undertaking educational administration requirements for Melbourne Polytechnic for over 10 years. He has developed the skills necessary to balance priorities, meet deadlines, and manage staff workloads effectively. Prasanna’s experience and skills has equipped him to handle the challenges of administrative work with confidence, efficiency, and professionalism.

Prasanna holds a Master's degree (MBA) in business administration from Deakin University, which has given him a broad understanding of the principles and practices of management, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to academic qualification, he holds several professional qualifications/memberships, including Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and Institute of Public Accountants Australia which have enhanced his skills and knowledge in training in project management, time management, and leadership.

Prasanna's responsibilities at Melbourne Polytechnic include:

  • Coordinating the timely and accurate delivery of core academic support processes within Higher Education directorate including timetabling, results entry, exam administration, academic misconduct, Accreditation new & renew application process, curriculum changes, leadership committee and graduate support.
  • Prioritising the daily administrative activities, supervision and coordination of work for the administrative team to ensure provision of a high level of customer advice to clients.
  • Providing initial training and ongoing support to administrative staff.
  • Coordinating all stages of the course enrolment process. This includes allocating course dates and listing on STRATA and Mark book, timetabling, liaising with trainers, monitoring course numbers to decide if a class will run, ensuring resources for students and staff are maintained and provided and maintaining files with accurate information.
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy in all correspondence and administrative documents associated with activities within the Directorate and ensure timelines are adhered to.
  • Leading, developing and managing effective systems and processes within the Directorate, and implementing new ones where required to maintain a high level of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Providing leadership to administrative staff,
  • Contributing towards and supporting implementation of MP strategic planning;
  • Fostering professional and industry relationships, across Victoria, Australia and internationally

Prasanna Gunasinghe has extensive experience supporting the student journey. The administration requirements of the department require an extensive array of skills and include supporting academic program governance, student management systems, ensuring program spending with fiscal responsibility, data collation and management, resulting and awarding of qualifications, project management and facilitator of program operational meetings etc.
